Stevenson Summer Camp – 2015

Hello Everyone,

I am Nicole Stocker, the new School Lunch Program Manager for Aqua Terra kids!  I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself, to those of you who I haven’t had the pleasure of talking to yet.  Beginning in June of this summer I have taken over the position and I have been providing Aqua Terra Hot lunch, to the kids at Stevenson Summer Camp!  It has been a great opportunity to learn many names and faces.  I am so glad that I will have many familiar and friendly faces once the school year begins, and I have a whole lot MORE names to learn.

The kids at camp have been GREAT!  Throughout July they have been awesome with teaching me their names, being patient with me learning, and eating very well on a daily basis.  They are all very cooperative and well behaved – especially nice for the new girl in town!  Although I have been coaxing them to eat a little more of their fruits and vegetables they do a very good job.  They inspire me to think of new ideas for our Aqua Terra kids menu, as you can tell the items that they Love, and the items that they would rather do without.

Just a little background about myself, in case you all are interested.  I am a transplant from Nebraska!  My significant other and I just relocated for his career in June and are loving Monterey.  I went to a small private high school in Nebraska, and continued my education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, Go Huskers!  There, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics.  After college I received my Dietetic Technician Registered License and began my career as a Dietitian.  My first job was in the medical field where I was in charge of both a Kitchen Organization and the Clinical/Nutritional health and plans for patients.  After 2 years in the Medical field, I took a job with the Nebraska WIC Organization in Omaha, NE.  For 2 years with WIC, I was able to talk with families daily and educate them about how to raise healthy kids and healthy families, despite economic and environmental challenges.  I have a great passion for educating parents and children on how to eat healthy, cook well, and stay active.

I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to work with the Aqua Terra kids! School Lunch program.  I look forward to being a part of educational experiences and outreach opportunities in the community.  Please feel free to contact me about any questions you might have, I can’t wait to meet more of you, and to interact with all the kids this school year.  Have a great Summer!
