Healthy School Meals = Happy, Successful Students

According to a Kaiser Permanente survey, about 80% of parents agree- healthy school meals positively impact academic performance. Well, we agree 100%! In fact, according to a study published in the Journal of Health Economics, educational outcomes did improve significantly in English and Science when schools in the borough of Greenwich in the UK shifted meals from low-budget processed foods to healthier, fresher food options. With our kids! school lunch program, you only get scratch made meals (no processed foods here), with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

School districts have a significant role to play in the well-being and academic achievement of children. Most schools have joined the movement to focus on educating the “whole child.” In addition to teaching students all of the skills they will need in order to succeed academically, we must also teach them how to make healthy choices and take care of their bodies. We can’t just expect children to eat right; we need to teach them how to eat!

Let’s make wellness a priority in our schools! Share your ideas for how we can meet this challenge in the comments section.
